| Teaching at the Institute of Microbiology of the University Hospital (IMUL)
One of the missions of the Institute of Microbiology is the teaching to students with medical or biological orientations. Teaching is under the authority of the School of Biology and the School of Medicine at the University of Lausanne.
Teaching at the School of Biology The Institute of Microbiology teaches within the School of Biology and students are integrated in research groups to complete their master thesis.
Teaching at the School of Medicine The Institute of Microbiology teaches (lectures, problem-based learning sessions and laboratory courses) within the curriculum of the Medical School, in particular in the second year (module 2.2, Blood-Immunity-Infection) and in the third year (module 3.3. Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Immunology). In addition, members of the Institute intervene in later years to provide microbiology/infectious diseases aspects in the frame of other teaching modules. The teaching program can be accessed online.
Doctoral Program in Microbial Sciences The Institute of Microbiology participates in courses and activities of the Thematic Doctoral Program Microbial Sciences of the Doctoral School of Life Sciences of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne (UNIL). The Thematic Doctoral Program in Microbial Sciences offers training in fundamental and applied microbial sciences addressing the specific needs and interests of students at the doctoral level. For more information about the program, please go to the Unil web page. The program is part of the Inter-University Doctoral Program in Microbial Sciences of the Conférence Universitaire de Suisse Occidentale (CUSO) and includes the Universities of Geneva, Neuchâtel, Fribourg, and Bern, as well as the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne (EPFL).
