Dr Christian Wider

The research activities in neurogenetics are mainly centred around neurodegenerative diseases and are currently funded by the Leenaards Foundation, the Swiss Parkinson’s Foundation, and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Participation in the European Huntington’s Disease Network (EHDN)

All patients suffering from this disease, as well as their loved ones, are offered the chance to participate in the largest cohort study on the international stage (REGISTRY).

Parkinson’s disease

Particular interest is given to the familial forms of Parkinson’s disease. Research into genetic causes allows us to better understand the disease and to develop new treatment strategies. Furthermore, a Swiss network is currently being set up (SwissMove) with the aim of conducting clinical and genetic studies and brain imaging studies on Parkinson’s disease.

There are numerous collaborations within the CHUV, for example with Medical Genetics ,on a national level with other neurology centre in Switzerland as well as an international level international (Mayo Clinic, USA, University of British Columbia, Canada etc.).
