Medical responsibility for the Medically Assisted Reproduction sector and the the Andrology and Reproductive Biology Laboratory pass to Dr Anna Surbone, senior physician in the Gynaecology Department at CHUV, on 1 July 2022.
Dr Surbone has worked in the Gynaecology Department at CHUV since 2012 and in the Fertility Medicine and Gynaecological Endocrinology Unit since 2015. She has advanced training in reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology and has played a central role in the development and growth of the unit, which is now recognised as a centre of excellence in Switzerland for gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine. She has authored several papers and worked especially hard to increase the use of ultrasound scans to help diagnose fertility problems.
She will continue to support couples facing fertility problems on their MAR journey, but is also keen to spend time developing a specialist menopause consultation service to provide holistic, multidisciplinary support for women at every stage of their lives.
She will be supported in her new role by Dr Smaranda Gazdaru, who was appointed as the unit’s executive physician in the spring of this year. Additional staff are currently being recruited to bolster the medical team.
The new organisation will allow the unit – which has existed for over 30 years – to continue to provide personalised treatment on a human scale, combining the highest levels of expertise with the most advanced technologies.
