Description

Our research focuses on mechanisms that influence protein oxidation and influences the cell metabolism of the nervous system. We study also the oxidative stress and its influence on the proteasome in different neuropathological situations. The two-dimensional gel electrophoresis at high resolution allows the identification of protein changes under pathological conditions. We apply also a differential infrared labeling and 2-DE to compare two protein samples and to distinguish oxidized and non-oxidized proteins. The main objective is to isolate specific biomarkers for oxidative stress. This method is also applied in several translational projects of the CNP, and in collaboration with research groups of the CHUV and the University of Lausanne.
