PhD
Group leader, Center of Precision Oncology, CHUV-UNIL

Biography

Michel A. Cuendet currently has joint appointments as a Group Leader at Center for Precision Oncology of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), a Senior Scientist at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine.

With a dual background in Astrophysics and Applied Mathematics, M. A. Cuendet dedicated his career to the exploration of complex many-dimensional systems using high-performance computing combined with cutting-edge algorithms. His PhD at ETHZ was followed by a postdoctoral stay at New York University and a Research Instructor position at Weill Cornell Medical college, during which he combined novel insights in Statistical Mechanics with large-scale numerical simulations to explore the dynamics and function of biomolecules, including the T-cell receptor with the aim of improving cancer immunotherapy approaches.

In his current position, M. A. Cuendet leads an interdisciplinary team of researchers exploiting various data sources such as clinical, radiological, molecular, or digital pathology information to develop biomarkers and clinical monitoring applications for Precision Oncology. He is the author of more than 60 scientific publications and has an h-index of 22.
