Bone and Cartilage Properties

Analysis of Tissues Morphology and Composition Using Biomedical Imaging

Characterizing tissue morphology and composition is very important to understand the nominal function of a joint and the effects of a disease or an injury.

Specifically, our past research has shown that it is necessary to analyze the spatial variations of structural and biological properties within a tissue. To allow comparing these properties in healthy and pathological joints, the SBML is developing a software application (TiProScope) which processes MR and CT images in order to reconstruct 3D tissue models and estimate tissue compositions non invasively. Currently, this tool is primarily used to measure bone and cartilage properties in healthy and osteoarthritic knees.
