Physical Rehabilitation for Knee Osteoarthritis

Physical rehabilitation is a critical part in care provided to patients with knee osteoarthritis at all stages of the disease, including after total knee arthroplasty.

The continuous increase in disease pathophysiological understanding, supported by the increasing awareness for the potential of proper body movement to treat osteoarthritic patients, motivate studies to better understand rehabilitation mechanisms and modify existing protocols.

In this area, the SBML is particularly interested in analyzing the relationship between protocoles used at various stages of the disease and future clinical outcomes. The lab is also working on different possibilities offered by new technologies, like mobile health.
