Background

The researcher's principal interest is the study of human epilepsy using a multi-methodological approach. She has a medical background, and has specialized in neurology. She received her PhD in Clinical Neurosciences from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and then continued her professional career in France before joining CHUV in 2015. She has a plethora of experience obtained through years of involvement in epilepsy-related functional intracranial EEG, PET, and MRI investigations. She is currently working to find a reliable brainstem biomarker for preventing sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). The purpose of this research is to examine brainstem reactions to apnea challenges in patients with intractable epilepsy. She is also interested in the presurgical examination of individuals with intractable epilepsy, with a focus on optimising their results following epilepsy surgery.
