Research and Development (R&D) in Microbial Diagnostics

The Institute of Microbiology regularly evaluates new commercial tests and develops new assays covering the whole spectrum of microbial diagnostics of infectious diseases. It participates also to multicentric studies of antimicrobial resistance surveillance (Sentry, Protekt, Search), serves as a reference laboratory for the EORTC antimicrobial group, for the Swiss Funginos Network, and acts as the WHO HPV Regional Reference Laboratory for Europe.

These R&D projects are collaborative efforts of several members of the Institute (see Current lab members) and distributed according to the R&D domains depicted below by alphabetical order. Please note that several domains can contribute to R&D for a single diagnostic laboratory.
