Quality Assurance

Our primary objective is to offer excellent service in terms of advice and treatment for fertility problems.

As in other countries, a national register records the in vitro fertilisations performed in Switzerland and their results. The IVFNAT register records the data from all Swiss IVF centres and organises audits with the aid of foreign experts.

The Andrology and Reproductive Biology Laboratory (ARBL) received its first accreditation in 2001 from the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) and since then the SAS has undertaken regular inspections of the laboratory. The laboratory is currently accredited until 2021 (ISO 15189).

According to the SAS, accreditation is "the formal recognition of the technical competence of an organisation to provide a specific service as defined in the accredited field".

The work of the ARBL is closely monitored and supported by Dr Anna Surbone and his medical team. This support is essential due to the close relationships which the ARBL maintains with the doctors. The ARBL cooperates closely with the Fertility Medicine and Gynaecological Endocrinology unit and particularly, interconnects with it within the framework of its certification.

In October 2003, the RMU successfully passed a certification procedure (ISO 9001:2000 standard) with theSwiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS). This also concerns quality control with periodic renewal.

In 2016, 2019 and 2022, a re-certification audit were successfully passed according to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard.

Follow-up audits are successfully conducted every year.
