Revolutionizing Healthcare: Cultivating a Culture of Innovation and Research in Clinical Settings

The inaugural IUFRS seminar for the year is set to feature a distinguished guest from the UK, renowned as a trail-blazing scientist specializing in Post-Intensive Care Syndrome in pediatrics. Dr. Manning MBE, a clinical academic professor of nursing, will enlighten attendees on fostering a culture of innovation and research within clinical settings.

This presentation will focus on aligning research with clinical needs and opening opportunities in the clinical settings for evidence-based or research-driven actions. It will particularly address capacity and capability building for the clinical workforce by providing real-world examples.

Prof. Joseph Manning MBE is a Clinical-Academic Children’s Nurse with a strong national and international profile within the fields of nursing, pediatric critical care, and clinical academic capacity and capability development. He is the Professor of Nursing and Child Health in the School of Healthcare at the University of Leicester and Nottingham Children's Hospital at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, UK. Joseph Manning leads a methodologically diverse (exploratory through to intervention development and testing) but clinically focused program of research with a mission to improve the experiences, outcomes, and lives of children, young people and their families that access acute care. He has received more than £8 million in competitive grant capture from national and international funders. Currently, Prof. Manning is the chief investigator of the NIHR-funded UK national OCEANIC study that is exploring long term outcomes of children and families following PICU, and a co-investigator of the North American PICS-p Longitudinal cohort study, the Singaporean SHACK study, and the Swiss PICSS-PF Study.
