Mr. van Oeffelen investigates the hypothesis that imbalanced appetite-regulation affects mood at the level of the hypothalamus. Imbalanced appetite-regulation is simulated through knockdown of hypothalamic appetite-regulating receptors in rodents, followed by analysis of their mood. This may lead to a better understanding of the aetiology of altered mood in eating disorders.
